Upcoming books

I am very excited to announce that Walker Books Australia have signed my picture book titled Jelly-boy about a jellyfish who falls in love with a plastic bag.

You’ll have to be patient though as it is due for release in early 2020.

More about Nicole

I have a passion for animal rights and a Graduate Diploma in professional writing from the University of Canberra. These two loves have collided, with the result being a number of picture books with animal rights and environmental themes and the formation of Tusk Books.

My first book, Ella is about a little elephant who works the streets with her keeper (mahout). Her heart is broken and she desperately wants to find her mum. After visiting Thailand and meeting elephants who had suffered terribly throughout their lives, I knew the first book had to tell their story.

My second book Billie takes the reader on a journey with Billie the dolphin as she searches to find the biggest wave, only to encounter ocean junk, pollution, driftnets, dolphins in captivity and much more.

My upcoming book Jelly Boy (Walker Books Australia) is due for release in February 2020. It tells the story of a jellyfish who falls in love with a plastic bag.

In 2017, I took on the role of ACT Coordinator for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). This role has allowed me to connect with many of Canberra’s talented authors and illustrators. I was also awarded a scholarship to attend the 2018 SCBWI winter conference in February 2018. The scholarship was awarded to one author and one illustrator worldwide who are seen as being in the verge of a career breakthrough and who are contributing to their local SCBWI chapter.

In 2018 artsACT granted me an arts activity grant to work on a new picture book manuscript. More on this project later.

I look forward to you joining me on my continuing journey.
